A term (also known as bonitation) for the quality classification (credit rating) of agricultural objects of observation. In the agricultural sector, this includes all observations on the phenotype of a plant. This can relate to plant characteristics, the condition of the fruit or the nature of the soil. In the latter case, the soil composition and ageing phenomena are classified, taking into account the water balance and climatic conditions.
Criteria for the creditworthiness are cultivation restrictions (main crops), workability, thickness, subsoil, cohesion of the topsoil, adsorption (absorption capacity) and moisture, as well as the melioration effort (measures to increase the value of the soil). The soils are assessed on a scale of 1 to 100; below 18, a soil is no longer agriculturally productive and unusable (see also under soil type and nutrients).
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
