Originally, bonitur was an expert assessment of quality, for example of wool and woollen fabrics. Today, the term is only used in an agricultural context for the quality classification (credit rating) of agricultural objects of observation. This includes all observations on the phenotype of a plant. This can relate to plant characteristics, the condition of the fruit or the nature of the soil. In the latter case, the soil composition and ageing phenomena are classified, taking into account the water balance and climatic conditions. Assessments also play an important role in root cause analysis as part of yield mapping.

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
