The Piquepoul variety group originates from France, namely from the Département Vaucluse in Provence. Synonyms are Avello, Avillo, Fehér Piquepoul, Languedocien, Picapoll, Picabolla, Picapulla, Picboul, Picpoul de Pinet and Piquepoul de Pinet.
