Paolina

The white grape variety originates from Italy. According to DNA analyses, Paolina is identical to the new breed created in Germany, Montagna (Dr. Erika Maul, JKI). The late-ripening vine is resistant to frost, Botrytis, and both types of mildew. It produces fresh, fruity white wines that are suitable for sparkling wine production. The variety, once considered extinct, has been reactivated. It is grown in very small quantities in Apulia and near Trento (Trient) in Trentino (Trentino-South Tyrol). In 2016, 0.2 hectares were reported in Apulia (Kym Anderson). Images: M.I.P.A.A.F - National Vine Certification Service.
