The winery is located in the municipality of Chiuro (province of Sondrio) in the Valtellina area of the Italian region of Lombardy. It was founded in 1897 by Nino Negri. Today it is owned by "Gruppo Italiano Vini SpA", which owns a total of 15 wineries. Danilo Drocco is responsible as managing director and oenologist. The terraced vineyards cover a total of 155 hectares of vineyards on sandy, silty and very permeable soils. They are mainly planted with the red wine variety Nebbiolo (here called Chiavennasca), and the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon(Sauvignon Blanc), Riesling Renano(Riesling), Moscato Bianco(Muscat Blanc) and Gewurztraminer(Gewürztraminer).
