The winery is located in the municipality of Margreid (Province of Bolzano) on the South Tyrolean Wine Road in the Italian wine-growing area of South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige region). The estate was founded in 1958 by Erich Kobler and consists of fruit and wine growing. Today it is managed by Armin and Monika Kobler. In 2006 they started to process part of the grapes themselves, the rest is vinified by the Kurtatsch Winery.

The vineyards cover two hectares of vineyards in the locations Feld, Klausner, Kotzner, Oberfeld, Ogeaner and Puit. They are situated at an altitude of 200 to 220 metres above sea level on warm, very water-permeable limestone gravel at the Margreid alluvial cone, as well as deep loamy or slightly sandy soils in the valley sites to the east and south of it. The white wine varieties Chardonnay,Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer are cultivated, as well as the red wine varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Carmenère. The cultivation is carried out according to the rules of KIP (Controlled Integrated Production) with the lowest possible number of treatments.
