The red grape variety (also Groppello di Berici) originates from Italy. Its parentage is unknown. It must not be confused with other Groppello varieties or Pignola Valtellinese due to some of the same synonyms or morphological similarities. The variety is described in Wine Grapes, but is not included in the VIVC catalogue. No stock was reported under this name in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
