Groppello

Frequent component of grape variety names or synonyms (also Grapello, Gropello, Groppella) in Italy (three "Grappello varieties" are also listed due to the similarity of names). The name is derived from "Gropo", which according to a local dialect means "knot" after the shape of the grape. Some, but not all, are related to each other:

Grapello (Gropello) = Rossignola
Grappello Grasparossa = Lambrusco Grasparossa
Grappello Maestri = Lambrusco Maestri
Grappello Ruperti = Lambrusco Viadanese
Groppello Bianco = Nosiola
Groppello dei Berici (Groppello di Berici)
Groppello di Breganze = Pignola Valtellinese
Groppello di Mocasina (Gropel, Gropel Moliner, G. di San Stefano, G. Moliner, G. Nera)
Groppello di Revò (Gropel, Gropel Nones, Groppello Anaune)
Groppello Gentile (Groppella, Groppelo Comune, G. Fino, G. dei Berici, G. della Val di Non, Groppellone)
