Frederick Christian

The "Wein- und Obstbau-Betrieb Friedrich vulgo Stöckl-Baumhackel" in the municipality of Langegg-St. Stefan is located in the Austrian wine-growing region of Western Styria. It has been family-owned since 1748. The traditional winery is situated at 580 metres above sea level and is run by Christian and his wife Isabella Friedrich. The owner attended the viticultural school Silberberg and subsequently trained as a master vintner and cellarer. The vineyards cover three hectares of vines in the Langegg, Kirchberg and Pirkhofberg vineyards. They are 100% planted with the Blauer Wildbacher variety. The winery is dedicated to the cultivation of Schilcher, which is why it is also called "Schilcherweingut Friedrich" or "Der Schilcher-Spezialist". The flagship of the house is "Schilcher Edition", other brands are "JJ" (respective vintage), "Klassik", "Liebelei" as well as a Gleichgepresster (Rosé). Schilcher sparkling wines, brandies and wine jelly are also produced. The winery is a member of the Schilcher protection association Weißes Pferd.
