White horse

Trademark of the "Verein klassischer Schilcher aus der Weststeiermark", founded in 1988. The symbol should express that the horse leads through the history of Western Styria up to the present. Already the Celts who settled in this area in the 4th century B.C. used it as their heraldic animal. The "Hengistburg" was the main fortress of the middle Mur area during the formation of Styria from 907 to 1246. Finally, since 1945 the stud farm of the Lipizzaner horses has been located in Piber and, together with the Schilcher, has become the figurehead of Western Styria. The classical West Styrian Schilcher under the patronage of the white horse guarantees origin and quality. After the wines have been checked, the trademark is handed over, which then decorates the bottle label. In the community of Rassach the association has established a vinotheque in the "Schilcher- und Kernöl-Stöck'l", where you can buy besides Schilcher many other products like noble brandies, Schilcher jelly, Schilcher sweets and Kernöl. There are about 70 member companies, among them are for example the wineries Friedrich Christian, Jöbstl Johannes, Langmann, Lazarus, Resch-Longus and Strohmeier.
