The winery is located in the municipality of Ockfen-Wawern (Saar region) at the foot of the Bockstein mountain in the German Moselle wine-growing region. There is documentary evidence that the family has been growing grapes since 1758. After the death of Hans-Henning Fischer, it has been run by his widow Karin since 1999. The vineyards cover 12 hectares in the single vineyard Bockstein (Ockfen). They are planted exclusively with the Riesling variety. In the wine cellar, spontaneous fermentation takes place using only the vineyard's own yeasts. The aim is to preserve the specific characteristics of each vineyard. A large proportion of the wines produced are Prädikat wines ( Auslese, Spätlese and Kabinett ). They are exported to the USA, Japan, England and Australia. The winery is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
