The red grape variety comes from Portugal. Synonyms are Donzelinho Rosa, Douradinha do Pico and Uva Petroleo. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Marufo x Gouveio (Godello). The latter is also a parent of Donzelinho Branco (white berries) and Donzelinho Tinto (blue berries). The vine is cultivated in tiny quantities in the Trás-os-Montes area. In 2016, 0.1 hectares of vine area was designated (Kym Anderson).
