Clos du Papillon

Site in the commune of Savennières in the appellation of the same name in the central part of the French Loire region. The name Clos refers to an enclosure with a wall. The steep slope directly on the river consists of slate and volcanic rock with a silty layer, which means that the vines have to be deeply rooted. The white wine variety Chenin Blanc is cultivated here. The two wine estates Domaine des Baumard and Domaine du Closel have shares in the site.
