The red grape variety originates from the border region Italy (Gorizia)-Slovenia (Goricia). Synonyms are Canore, Canorie, Chianorie, Cianoria, Cjanorie, Rossarie and Vinosa. The parentage (parentage) of the vine is unknown. It used to be widespread in the provinces of Pordenone and Udine in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. In the 1980s, it was found by winemaker Emilio Bulfon in the municipality of Pinzano al Tagliamento, east of Pordenone, together with other varieties and revived with the help of ampelographers Antonio Calò and Ruggero Forti. The late-ripening vine is generally resistant to fungal diseases. It produces full-bodied red wines with moderate acidity and aromas of black fruits and cloves. It is grown in small quantities in the municipalities of Castelnovo di Friuli and Pinzano al Tagliamento. In 2016, 1.3 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
