Chasselas Croquant

The white grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Krächeleder, Krächelnder, Krachender Süßling, Krachlampe, Krachmost, Kracher, Krach Gutedel and Krachgutedel. The name is possibly due to the hard-skinned berries that "crack" when eaten. The many German names indicate a (former) wide distribution in Germany and/or in the French Alsace. It is a somatic mutation of the Chasselas grape variety. In 2016, no stocks were reported under this name (statistics Kym Anderson).

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
