Village appellation in the Côte de Nuits area of the Burgundy commune of the same name. This borders the municipality of Morey-Saint-Denis to the south. The total vineyard area covers around 500 hectares, including some vineyards in the neighbouring commune of Brochon. In 1847, Gevrey added the name Chambertin to the name of the village, which is the name of the most famous and best location on the Côte d'Or. A Chambertin red wine was also one of Napoleon 's (1769-1821) favourite wines. This is why it is also known as the wine of kings - the king of wines.
