bordeaux red

Description for the purple-red colouring of a red wine as part of a wine toast. The term is derived from the wines in the typical Bordeaux blend. The synonym "wine red" indicates that Bordeaux red is considered the wine colour par excellence. It is also the only colour designation that is derived from a region and is used not only for a wine colour, but in general. See also under colour, as well as blue, black and white.
