The red grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Berués and Verués de Huarte. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2021, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Savagnin Blanc (Traminer) x unknown father variety. It is grown in small quantities in the Spanish region of Navaarra. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
