The white grape variety originates from Hungary. Synonyms are Bacator Rose, Bakator Piros, Bakator Grape, Crimeea Rosu De, Crvena Bakatorka, Ianos Rysta, Iokvarna, Jardovany Piros, Piros Bakar, Rujita and Veres Bakator. The parentage is unknown. Nothing is known about possible relations to the varieties Bakator Belyi or Bakator Kék either. It is a purely female grape variety. It is suitable for pressing and table grape. In Hungary, the variety is mainly cultivated in the Badacsony area. In 2016, 1 hectare of vineyard was designated here (Kym Anderson statistics).
