Bakator Belyi

The white grape variety originates from the former USSR. Around 40 synonyms indicate that the vine is very old. Some of them are Alfoeldi, Ardai, Ardeleanca, Ardelyanka, Bacator, Bacator Alb, Bacator Bely, Bacator Giallo, Bakar, Bakator Alb, Bakator Giallo, Beli Bakator, Budai, Erdei, Erdei Fehér, Fehér Bakator, Kichmich Rond, Kohasija Zelena, Sarga Bakator, Zoeld Bakator and Zoeld Denka (those in bold are former main names). The ancestry (parentage is unknown. Nothing is known about possible relations to the Hungarian varieties Bakator Kék or Bakator Roz either. The variety is cultivated in Romania. In 2016, 11 hectares of vineyards were reported here (Kym Anderson statistics).
