Wine production to order

Although there are no vineyards, there is a wine producer. The "Denali Winery", named after a nearby mountain, was founded in 1997 by Judy Hall in Anchorage (62nd parallel), the largest city in Alaska. The business was taken over by Mike and Catherine Bessent in 2011. The company buys grape must mainly from California, but also from many other countries in 5-gallon units (about 20 litres). This includes an Icewine made from frozen Riesling grapes. The labels are decorated with various Alaskan wild animals (bear, eagle, moose, dolphin, etc.).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
