The red grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Feijao, Mindeco, Miudesso and Verdelho Feijao. The parentage is unknown. It is not a colour mutation of the white variety Verdelho. The variety is cultivated in the Minho area. In 2016, a total of 29 hectares of vineyards were declared in Portugal (Kym Anderson).
