The originally protected PDO area is located in the Tsageri district in the Racha-Lechkhumi region in the north-west of Georgia. It stretches along the right bank of the River Rioni at an altitude of 400 to 600 metres above sea level around the two municipalities of Tvishi and Alpana. The straw-coloured white wine is made from 100% pure varietal gra pes of the indigenous Tsolikouri variety and is vinified dry to semi-sweet. It is characterised by a delicate, fruity taste with a lemon aroma.
