Alternative, very laborious vineyard work, in which young and unwanted shoots from the lignified part of the vine are broken out manually. This also includes the non-fruit-bearing water shoots. This is done in spring, when the fruits are already visible and the usefulness of shoots can be determined. See also thinning out, pruning and shoot tip pruning.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
