The communal appellation lies as an enclave at the southern end of the Mâconnais area in Burgundy. Due to the similarity of its name, however, it should not be confused with the Pouilly-Fumé area (main variety Sauvignon Blanc) on the Loire. The Saint-Véran appellation adjoins to the south. The vineyards cover 760 hectares of vines in the four communes of Chaintré, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson. The names of the vineyards may be given. There are no Grands Crus, but...
