Pago Guijoso

Special wine-growing area in the municipality of El Bonillo in the province of Albacete in the Spanish region of La Mancha (Castile-La Mancha). It was classified in 2004 as the highest Spanish wine quality level Vino de Pago. Nearby is a second VdP vineyard called Finca Élez. The vineyards cover 99 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level on clay soils in the headwaters of the Pinilla river. The red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo and Syrah, as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated. The area (winery) is completely owned by Bodegas y Viñedos Sánchez Muliterno. It is only a small part of a huge estate with a total of 3,000 hectares, where olive growing and livestock breeding is also practised.
