The winery is located in the municipality of Retuerta del Bullaque (province of Ciudad Real) in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha. It was founded in 1993 by Don Alfonso Cortina de Alcocer and the first vintage was marketed in 2001. His two sons, D. Carlos and Felipe Cortina Lapique, now run the business. The winery was visited and inaugurated by the Spanish King Juan Carlos I in 2006. The vineyards cover 50 hectares of vines on barren, acidic soils at 850 metres above sea level at the foot of the Montes de Toledo. The area is bordered by a forest full of cork, stone and mountain oaks with many animals living there (e.g. eagles, deer, vultures, wild boar).
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
