Moscargo

This red grape variety is a new cross between João Santarém (Castelão Francês) x Muscat d'Hamburg. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, the parentage indicated in reverse in the breeding list has been corrected. The cross was made in Portugal by the breeder José Leão Ferreira da Almeida. It is mined in tiny quantities in the Centro region. In 2016, 0.2 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
