The red grape variety (breeding no. Taylor's Seedling N. 14) is an interspecific new breeding between Taylor x Ives. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis riparia. The hybrid was crossed in the USA in 1879 by the private breeder Jacob Rommel. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
