The winery "FM Mayer Vitikultur" is located in the 19th district of Döbling in Wien (Austria). Franz-Michael Mayer comes from one of the most famous and oldest winegrowing dynasties in Vienna. The Mayer family has been involved in winegrowing since 1683 and is known for the Heurigen Mayer on Pfarrplatz (taken over by the Hans Schmid private foundation in 2006). After his education at the Klosterneuburger Weinbauschule, he spent some time in German and Alsatian wine regions or farms. He then gained practice in South Africa at Nederburg as a production manager for red wines and made study trips to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. In 1999, Mayer returned to his roots in order to "build a bridge between the traditional methods of his homeland in combination with innovative methods of new grape varieties.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
