The winery is located in Tanail in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon in the north of the country, 38 kilometres from Baalbek. It was founded in the early 1970s by Michael and Amal Ghosn. When civil war broke out in 1975, the property was abandoned. In 1992, Sami and Ramzi Ghosn visited the estate where they had spent their childhood and decided to revive it. A restaurant was also started. Initially, only arrack was produced from the autochthonous varieties such as Beitamouni and Obeïdi, which was marketed in blue bottles under the name "Massaya" (Dusk) from 1994. The triple-distilled arrack matures for 18 months in clay casks. In 1997, a French-Lebanese partnership was formed between Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (co-owner of Château Angélus, St. Émilion), Dominique Hébrard (former co-owner of Château Cheval Blanc, St. Émilion), Daniel Brunier and the brothers.
