Designation for the large area of Bordeaux on the right bank of the Dordogne before the confluence with the Garonne. It belongs to the so-called Rive droite and includes the appellations Castillon - Côtes de Bor deaux, Francs - Côtes de Bordeaux, Fronsac (with Canon-Fronsac), Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol and Saint-Émilion (with Satellites). The name derives from the port city of Libourne. The Merlot grape variety dominates here.
