Hospices de Nuits

The appellation for red and white wines, named after the commune of the same name, is located south of Dijon in the Côte de Nuits part of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. The northern part extends to the border of Vosne-Romanée, the southern part is partly in the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges and partly in the commune of Premeaux-Prissey. It is documented that King Louis XIV (1638-1715) was advised by his personal physician Guy-Crescent Fagon to drink a mature red wine from Nuits-Saint-Georges.
