The winery "Markus Prackwieser - Gump Hof" is located in the municipality of Völs am Schlern (Fiè allo Sciliar) in the southern Eisack valley in the Italian wine growing area of South Tyrol (region Trentino-South Tyrol). The traditional Gump Hof was already mentioned in a document in 1546. It has been owned by the Prackwieser family for more than 200 years; since 2000 the farm has been managed by Markus Prackwieser. The vineyards cover six hectares of vineyards at an altitude of up to 550 metres above sea level in steep areas with a gradient of 50 to 70%. One third of these are planted with the red wine varieties Blauburgunder(Pinot Noir) and Vernatsch(Schiava Grossa), and two thirds with the white wine varieties Sauvignon(Sauvignon Blanc), Weißburgunder(Pinot Blanc) and Gewürztraminer.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
