Frankenthal

single vineyard in the municipality of Assmannshausen in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. The south-southwest facing vineyards are situated at an altitude of 80 to 330 metres above sea level and have slopes of 50 to 65%. They cover 14 hectares of vineyards. The medium to deep soils consist of quartzites and slate layers with portions of loam, partly interspersed with loess in the lower part of the northern section. The Pinot Noir variety is cultivated here. The Chat Sauvage, Georg Müller Stiftung, G.H. von Mumm, König Klaus & Ursula, König Robert, Krone Künstler Gunter and Strieth Thilo wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
