The winery is located in the municipality of Hattenheim in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. It was donated to his home municipality of Hattenheim in 1913 by Georg Müller, co-owner of the Eltville sparkling wine cellar MM (Matheus Müller). When Hattenheim was incorporated into Eltville in 1972, it bore the name "Weingut der Stadt Eltville". It was finally acquired in 2003 by Peter Winter, who invested heavily in improvements. Tim Lilienström is responsible as estate manager.
The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vines in the vineyards designated as VDP. Erste Lage and VDP.Grosse Lage Engelmannsberg, Hassel, Nussbrunnen, Schützenhaus and Wisselbrunnen (Hattenheim), Jungfer (Hallgarten), Lenchen (Oestrich) and Frankenthal (Assmannshausen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (with 80% of the area), Auxerrois, Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau and Ehrenfelser, as well as with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Frühburgunder. The vineyards are cultivated in an environmentally friendly and natural way. Intensive foliage management, yield reduction through thinning and selective manual harvesting ensure that only high-quality and ripe grapes are processed.
