The American Francis Ford Coppola (*1939) became famous as director of classics like "The Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now" and is one of the most important film makers in the USA. Due to the great financial success of "The Godfather", he bought a part (and later the rest) of the historic Inglenook Winery (formerly "Niebaum-Coppola" and "Rubicon Estate Winery") in Rutherford in the Napa Valley (see picture) in 1975 and thus entered the wine business. In 2007 he acquired the "Château Sovereign" in the seaside resort of Geyserville in Sonoma County. In 2008 the well-known French oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt (*1963) was hired as consultant. Here, under the direction of winemaker Corey Beck, an extensive range of wines is produced under the labels "Archimedes", "Bianco & Rosso", "Diamond Collection", "Director's", "Director's Cut", "Francis Coppola Reserve", "Sofia", "Su Yuen" and "Votre Santé".
