The white grape variety originates from Dalmatia in Croatia. Synonyms are Belan, Čarapar, Debit Bijeli, Debit Puljižanac, Puljižanac, Puljižanac Mali, Puljižanac Veliki, Ruzevina (second main name) and Ruzevina Bijela.The name means, mutatis mutandis, "debt payer" and indicates the high yield. It should not be confused with the many Italian varieties with the synonyms Pagadebit or Debit such as Rollo. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it is probably a natural cross between Bombino Bianco x Lasina. The late-maturing, high-yielding vine is susceptible to downy mildew. It produces full-bodied and alcohol-rich white wines with aromas of green fruits, which are mainly used as blends. However, the variety is also used as . table grape It is widespread throughout Dalmatia in the continental and coastal areas. In 2016, however, no more stock was reported; in 2010 there were 403 hectares (Kym AndersonAnderson Kym).
