The winery is located in the municipality of Gratallops in the Spanish DOCa area of Priorato (Catalonia). It was founded in 1987 by Carles Pastrana. He was one of the four winemakers who founded the success of the area. Today he is mayor of the municipality. The vineyards cover 50 hectares of vineyards planted with the indigenous varieties Garnatxa Negra, Carineña, Garnatxa Blanca and Tempranillo, as well as the international Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The cult wine "Clos de l'Obac", created in 1989, is blended from Garnatxa Negra(Garnacha Tinta), Carineña(Mazuelo), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah and matures in new French barriques. By the way, the term "l'Obac" means "shady side", because the vines are partly planted on sun-facing sites. The "Dolç de l'Obac" is a port wine like, sprinkled version. The second wine is called "Miserere". Furthermore there are simple wines called "Usatges" in red and white.
