The winery is located in the municipality of Modena in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. It was founded in 1860 by Cleto Chiarli and his wife Lucia, who had previously run an osteria. Today the estate is run by the fifth generation of the family, the brothers Anselmo & Mauro Chiarli. The vineyards cover 140 hectares. These are divided between the three destinations Tenuta Cialdini, Tenuta Belvedere and Tenuta Sozzigalli. They are planted with the varieties Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Salamino and Pignoletto. Some of the areas are cultivated with organic methods. The product range comprises about 20 different still and sparkling wines DOC Lambrusco di Sorbara (with the premium wines Premium - Vecchia and Fondatore and Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro (with the premium wine Vigneto Cialdini) as well as DOCG Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto. Around 1.3 million bottles of wine are produced annually. About 30% of these are exported to Germany, England, Scandinavia, Japan and the USA. Various balsamic vinegars DOC Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena are also produced.
