The white grape variety comes from Portugal. Synonyms are Asal de Santo Tirso, Azal de Santo Tirso, Azal de São Tirso, Borrado das Moscas, Branco de Asa, Cagado das Moscas and Pintosa. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. It must not be confused with the Bical variety (Borrado das Moscas) because of a synonym that seems to indicate it. According to DNA analyses she is a parent of Loureiro. It is grown in small stands in the Norte region. In 2016, two hectares of vineyards were designated under the name Pintosa (statistics Kym Anderson).
