The "C.H. Berres" winery is located in the municipality of Ürzig (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine-growing region. The family tree can be traced back to the year 1510. With the 2004 vintage, responsibility for wine production was transferred from Alfred Berres to his son Markus Berres, the 21st generation of the family. He studied viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim and graduated with a degree in viticulture (FH). During his training, he spent a semester abroad at the Chardfarm winery in New Zealand. The vineyards cover 3.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Goldwingert and Würzgarten (Ürzig), Herrenberg and Treppchen (Erden), Hubertuslay (Kinheim), Klosterberg (Wehlen), and Himmelreich (Zeltingen). The vineyards are 90% Riesling and 10%Pinot Blanc.
