Popular single vineyard name in Germany. The first part of the name derives from the fertility of this animal and its frequent occurrence in the vineyards. The second part comes from the Middle High German word "spring/sprung" and means source, as such are often found in vineyards.
The south-facing vineyards with up to 60% slope include 130 hectares of vine area from heavy clay soils with light sand deposits and openly exposed iron rock.
