Bactericidal

Chemical substances for the specific control of bacteria. They belong to the large group of pesticides. The name is derived from "bacterium" and "caedere" (to kill). Death is caused by damaging the bacterial cell. Bactericides also play a role in plant protection or in combating microorganisms. They are hardly ever used in viticulture. See also under vineyard care.
