Producer description of "wein.gut wellanschitz"

The traditional "Wein.Gut Wellanschitz" is located in the municipality of in the Austrian DAC area of . Stefan and Theresia Wellanschitz laid the foundation for the quality standard. From 1996 onwards, in what is already the sixth generation of the family, the two sons Stefan and Georg built on this, supported by Stefan's wife Christine. The vineyards cover almost 28 hectares in the Altes Weingebirge, Bodigraben, , , Hussi, Spiegelberg, Raga, Rüsselsgrund and Sonnensteig vineyards on mostly heavy clay soils. They are planted exclusively with red wine varieties, namely Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The vineyards are consistently cultivated in a near-natural, environmentally friendly manner with the exclusive use of organic fertilisers, , and plant-friendly pest control using .
