Gfanger

Reed or location in the municipality of Horitschon in the Austrian DAC area of Central Burgenland. Until 1920 there was still forest here. In former times it was divided into an upper area "Gfangerwald" and a lower area "Gfangeracker". Due to the size there are qualitative differences. The soils consist of a 40 centimeter deep light clay layer, especially in the upper area the lower layers are calcareous. They have a high water storage capacity. Here, especially the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, as well as some Merlot cultivated Shares in the vineyard are held, for example, by the vineyards Iby Anton, Iby-Lehrner, Kerschbaum Maria, Kerschbaum Paul, Lehrner Paul, Moritz Alfred and Wellanschitz, as well as members of the WG Vereinte Winzer Blaufränkischland.
