One of the Alsace (Haut-Rhin) sites classified as Grand Cru within the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. Its origins date back to 762, when the Ettenheim monastery was founded here. The vineyards cover 73 hectares of vines at an altitude of 210 to 300 metres above sea level on limestone and sandstone soil in the two communes of Rouffach and Westhalten. They are planted with the varieties Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat Blanc. Well-known producers are Domaine Gruss and Muré (Clos Saint-Landelin).
