New wine designation (wine from France) for the lowest French wine quality level, introduced by the EU wine market regulation in August 2009. It replaces the former designation Vin de Table (table wine). There are wines with and without an indication of the grape variety and/or vintage. It is not the INAO that is responsible for these wines, but the Anivin de France association. See also under Quality System and France.

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
