The Italian company with headquarters in Pedemonte di Valpolicella in the Veneto region operates several wineries. The foundation stone was laid by Giacomo Tommasi, when he acquired a small piece of land in the Valpolicella Classica in 1902. Today, the vineyards cover 599 hectares of vines in five regions of Italy. The wines are produced under six different brands. These are Tommasi (Veneto), Caseo (Lombardy), Casisano (Tuscany), Poiggio al Tufo (Maremma-Tuscany), Peternoster (Basilicata) and Surant (Puglia). The 110th anniversary of the foundation was celebrated with the construction of the new ageing cellar entirely dedicated to Amarone. This is where the "Magnifica" barrel is located, with a capacity of 33,000 litres. This makes it one of the largest wine barrels in the world.
