The winery is located in Metsovo in the wine region of the same name in the Epirus region of Greece. Founded in 1930 and abandoned since 1956, the estate was reactivated by Yannis Maltezos and Achilleas Lampsidis. It started with 2.5 hectares of vineyards with Cabernet Sauvignon and Ugni Blanc(Trebbiano Toscano). In 1998, the winery Katogi Averoff was founded as the winery Octana in the area of Nemea (Peloponnese). In 2001, a merger with Katogi Averoff took place, but the two remained independent. This cooperation was terminated in 2017 and the remaining shares in Octana were acquired. The historic Strofilia in the Anavyssos vineyard with the first vineyard was abandoned in 2012. In Patitiria Anavyssos, a new vineyard with 3.5 hectares of vineyards was created with the Malagousia and Assyrtiko varieties.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
