Schwanleite

single vineyard in the municipality of Rödelsee (Steigerwald area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was first mentioned in a document as early as 1295. The name has nothing to do with the animal, but probably derives from the goddess Svana, who was worshipped by the Celts. The vineyards on the slopes of the 473-metre-high Schwanberg consist of the Keuper soils typical of this area. The varieties Silvaner, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are cultivated here. The wineries Hemberger Roland, Ruck Johann, Weigand and Weltner Paul, for example, have shares in the site.
